Born into a construction family – generations of – it was a given I would follow, and enter the world of bricks and mortar myself, at some point. Starting my own venture in 2008, after twenty years in the financial sector, I worked hard to learn my chosen craft of interior design, from the ground up – on the job.
Working on restoration projects heightened my interest in history and architecture, and from that, a keen research into both. Recording as I learnt, photography became a natural progression, a chronology of my ‘history hunts’. In this too, I discovered I had a natural ability to learn on the job. Entirely self taught, the instant gratification I got from photography, led to me devoting more time to being a photographer.
The creative element of my work led to a recommendation to submit to Getty Images, after examples of this type of photography were sent to them – in July 2017 – I was delighted to be accepted as creative photographer. Arguably the most significant global image and media communicator, working with Getty has afforded my work to extend into the commercial field.
To compliment my experience, I work for The Royal Photographic Society, within their Heritage and Archaeology Special Interest Group, their Women in Photography Group and their Specialist History Group. I am an accredited member of the British Institute of Professional Photographers, giving assurance and confidence in the standard and quality of my services.
